Silicone sheet is a polymer elastic material primarily composed of silicone rubber, integrating material science and precision manufacturing technologies. Below are the core stages and technical highlights of its production:
Raw Material Selection and Preprocessing
Silicone Base Material: High-purity silicone is used as the foundation, with grades (food, medical, or industrial) selected based on application scenarios.
Additives: Include curing agents, colorants, and performance-enhancing fillers.
Preprocessing: Raw materials undergo screening, cleaning, and drying to remove impurities and control moisture content
Compounding Process
Mixing Procedure: Silicone base and additives are proportionally fed into a compounding machine, achieving homogeneity through roller mixing or internal kneading (typically 20 minutes, 60–80 roller passes).
Curing Agent Addition: Added during the final mixing stage to initiate cross-linking reactions.
Compound Formation: Mixed material is cut into blocks and wrapped in anti-dust film for storage.
Molding and Curing
Compression Molding: Material blocks are placed into mold cavities and thermoformed under 120–200°C and 5–15 MPa pressure.
Primary Curing: Initial cross-linking within the mold; curing time adjusts with thickness (5–30 minutes)2.
Secondary Curing: Post-cured in ovens (200–250°C for 2–4 hours) to eliminate low-molecular compounds and enhance mechanical properties
Post-Processing
Trimming: Removing burrs and flash to ensure dimensional accuracy.
