Storage Tips for Silicone Raw Material: Ensuring Performance Starts with Proper Handling
Silicone raw materials, especially solid forms like high-temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone, are sensitive to temperature, humidity, and time. Improper storage may lead to hardening, surface crusting, stickiness, or premature vulcanization, which can negatively affect processing efficiency and product quality. Proper storage is essential to maintain the performance of silicone materials and ensure stable production.
Avoid Direct Sunlight and High Temperatures
Prolonged exposure to sunlight or high temperatures accelerates the aging of the raw material and may lead to premature curing, discoloration, and other issues. It is advisable to store the material in a cool, shaded area.
Prevent Air Exposure and Contamination
Prolonged air exposure can cause surface crusting and attract dust, oil, or other contaminants that affect mixing and molding. After each use, the remaining material should be tightly wrapped in PE film or plastic wrap to keep it clean and soft.
